Anthony Joshua has his eyes set on Tyson Fury, a matchup that would send the entire combat world into a frenzy. Sharing all the heavyweight world titles amongst themselves, Fury and Joshua have been two of the best of the modern-age combat. That said, the two Englishmen have been rumored to collide in-ring several times.

They almost materialized the scrap in August, before Tyson Fury was forced to confirm a defense against Deontay Wilder over anyone else, which will happen on October 9. It evoked ‘AJ’ to move ahead with a matchup against Oleksandr Usyk, putting his WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO belts at stake for a fight on September 23.

Nevertheless, Anthony Joshua took out some time to shed views on the potential fight against Fury during a media interaction. While he billed it as an “honor” facing Fury, he also accused ‘The Gypsy King’ of pulling out from fights.

‘AJ’ said, “We’ve known this for a long time with Fury, always have something in the background,”

“It’s good to study your opponents and learn about them, so, yeah, we know his history. He pulled out of a couple of fights, it just happens. He’s someone who pulls out of fights. Even with the Wilder situation, it happened again.”

“Good luck to him and we’ll see him some time. Whenever he’s ready, we’ll be here waiting.”

If Joshua and Fury successfully defend their title next, they can come up with an undisputed unification matchup in the next year. The potential fight will stage the first man since Lennox Lewis to hold all four major world titles in the heavyweight division.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua – One for the ages

If either man loses their upcoming tests, it will disrupt the ‘AJ-Fury’ showdown once again which may never ever come to fruition. However, both men look favorable to remain champions by the end of this year. Usyk, a former cruiserweight champion, may fall short before Anthony Joshua’s impeccable dominance in the heavyweight clash.

Meanwhile, Tyson Fury has already vanquished Deontay Wilder in a lopsided fight in 2020. Hence, he should ideally repeat the same in the trilogy matchup, unless we see a different side of ‘The Bronze Bomber’. Hence, ‘Fury vs Joshua’ for all four belts still has some prominent lifeline left in its tale. But it’s too early to picture the bout happening.
