Tyson Fury Believes He Should Have Knocked Out Deontay Wilder at This Moment

On 1 December 2018, Tyson Fury fought Deontay Wilder in one of the most competitive matches in heavyweight boxing history. The bout ended in a controversial draw with many fans believing that Tyson Fury had done enough to bag the win.

Both men had their moments at various points of the bout. Wilder scored 2 knockdowns against Fury. The resurrection of Tyson Fury is one of the best moments in the match. However, in an interview with Steve Bunce of BT Sport, Fury talked about the moment when he almost knocked Deontay Wilder out.

Deontay Wilder scored the first knockdown in round 9 of their match. However, In the very next round, Fury made a spectacular comeback. Wilder seemed to slow down at the beginning of the 10th round since he had expended his energy in the previous round to take out Fury.

Fury took full advantage of this and went after Wilder. Fury was able to land some good shots at the Bronze Bomber. He displayed amazing head movement and hand speed in that round. However, he was not able to end the match.

“ I always had in my mind that there were 2 (rounds) more left. I just didn’t know if I had the engine to do it.”

“Don’t forget I started fighting again in June of that year and fought him in December of that year. So it was less than six months of activity.”

Fury also blames a terrible training camp for his inability to finish Wilder in the first fight.

Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury are booked once again in a rematch on February 22. Ahead of his rematch, Fury looks in phenomenal shape and has vowed to knock Wilder out.
