Call of Duty Warzone is the new rage as the largely popular battle royale game now has almost 75 million players, in just 5 months. That is a huge achievement and the game only seems to keep growing in terms of popularity. But Warzone is unlike most games and has a ton of different aspects to it.

If you’re new to the game, it can feel overwhelming considering it still doesn’t have an accurate SBMM system in place. Plus, with cross-play enabled, controller players can dominate you with their aim-assist. With this said, here’s a beginner’s guide to surviving, and possibly dominate, in Warzone. Keep these tips in mind and it’ll help you in the long run.

Loadouts in Call Of Duty Warzone

This is something you must do before jumping into the match. Call Of Duty players are familiar with the loadout system and know how to use it well. For those who aren’t, it allows you to set a custom weapons loadout for yourself, where you can have a combination of assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs, shotguns, sniper rifles, pistols, melee weapons, and even rocket launchers.

Yup, it seems tiring but this will help you a lot where you can call for these custom loadouts or wait for them to drop for you after a certain time. Getting great weapons from your loadout, when you haven’t found good loot during the game, is extremely beneficial.

Game Settings

This is yet another step you must take before jumping into the game. Whether you’re a console or a PC player, there are certain settings you must apply. For e.g., you will find stuff like field of view that lets you regulate the viewable area on your screen. Keeping it to a maximum possible limit will help you get an edge over others, considering you will have a larger viewable area.

Next would be setting keybinds for running, crouching, and crawling that prove to be game-changers in close-combat situations. One major setting you need to apply is to switch your minimap from circular to a square, which will give you at least 30% extra viewable area.

You can read more about the best settings for controller over here.

Now that you know what to do before the game, let’s take a look at what you can expect in a match.

Parachuting to a drop location

This is one of the most important aspects of Warzone. The quicker you reach the ground, the faster you can loot and gain an edge over those still dropping in. Navigating to your drop location will take a while for you to master. You will have to make full use of the direction keys here.

If you want to reach the ground quicker, you can deploy your parachute midway to the ground and cut it again quickly. This will propel you towards the ground faster. If you find good loot quickly, you can also shoot players who are still in the air, preventing them from ever reaching the ground. If you don’t want to drop in with multiple enemies, you can open your parachute early. This will help you cover a longer distance.

This might raise a question in your head regarding the best drop location on the map. Honestly, there isn’t one. Sure, places like The Stadium, Hospital, Military Base, and Airport are hot-drop locations. But the loot is pretty well distributed across the map.

Warzone also features certain parts of the maps that you may have already played in the COD Modern Warfare multiplayer mode. It is always beneficial if you can go to these places since you know them well. This will give you an edge over your enemies.

In-game contracts, managing cash and buying

While in the game, you will come across multiple contracts that you can take up. There are bounty contracts where you will bet the location of a target (specific player) on the map, and you have to eliminate him/her to earn more cash. Your target will also be notified that they’re being hunted once the contract duration starts.

Next is a recon contract where you will have to hold a particular area until it is secured. But beware, because the moment you enter the location, it sends a flare alerting everyone around you about your presence.

Another contract is the scavenger hunt contract. This will help you a lot if you are looking for good loot. You have to go around looking for 3 specific crates. The third one will most probably give you an epic or legendary gun. This also allows you to keep all weapons and cash from each box.

Now that you have a load of cash, what do you do with it? You spend it, of course. There are buy stations on different parts of the map where you can get access to different items. You can buy a UAV to check for enemies around you. Or you can buy cluster or precision airstrikes that will help you clear up multiple enemies, in one go.

There is also the option to call for a loadout drop. Plus, if you have enough cash, you can also revive your dead teammates. The self-revive kit available here is also extremely beneficial considering you don’t have to depend on your teammates to revive you when you’re knocked down. It is also great while playing solo since it doesn’t end your match immediately.

Managing your cash correctly will ensure that you have an edge over your competitors.

Armor management in Call Of Duty Warzone

The game’s armor management system is quite different from others. You have armor plates that you can utilize to protect yourself. You can use 3 plates, at a time, and carry 5 extra ones with you. When you’re hit, these plates break. A blue broken armor icon will show up when all 3 plates are damaged. This makes you/your enemy extremely vulnerable.

It is crucial to have extra armor on you in case of an emergency. You can even buy an armored box from the buy station. Though it is underrated, it is beneficial for the team in quickly restocking armor so you don’t have to look around for it. These plates are pivotal for your survival, and it is always suggested to have at least 3 plates on you, at all times.

The Gulag in Call Of Duty Warzone

When you are killed in Warzone, you are taken to the Gulag. This is where you get a chance to earn your freedom and get back into the fray. You will have to fight against an enemy with a random weapon and whoever gets the kill, gets to come back to Verdansk. If you and your teammate are both in the gulag, you can spectate your buddy’s match while you wait for your turn. You can also simply call out the enemy’s location for your teammate’s benefit.

But coming back is a one-off thing. If you die again, it means goodbye. But if your squad is still alive, they can always buy you back from the buy station, if they have the money that is.

Best weapons in Warzone

Honestly, this is the part where it gets personal. It all depends on your preference and what you feel comfortable with. Right now, the Bruen and the FAL are two guns that are buffed and will help you dominate the game. But it is entirely your decision to choose what guns you want to have.

Verdansk is a huge map and having a mix of an AR with a Sniper rifle is always recommended. But if you want to clear out multiple enemies, an LMG will come in handy with its huge mag size.
