It has been a season to forget for Carson Wentz and his Philadelphia Eagles teammates thus far. The Eagles were first in AFC East last year and bowed out of the post-season with a 17-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the wildcard playoff game. They went 9-7 in the regular season in 2019 but are yet to register a win in the ongoing season.

Carson Wentz has been underperforming so far. Head coach Doug Pederson could replace the veteran quarterback with 2020 second-round pick, Jalen Hurts. Doug Pederson’s boys will play last year’s Super Bowl runner-ups, the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

The Eagles need to find their mojo fast if they want to challenge for a playoff spot this year. A win against Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers could be the perfect morale-booster the entire team needs.

Michael Irvin wore the famous number 88 jersey for the Dallas Cowboys during his NFL playing days. He now serves as a sports commentator. The respected NFL personality recently featured on a 95.7 The Game radio segment where he spoke about the underperforming Philadelphia Eagles.

Irvin said, “What you’re going to get more out of the Eagles is just total desperation. Anything left in the tank, they have to empty. They can’t go four games with zero victories. They’ll have to empty them. They are going to empty the tank so you got to be ready for that and the young team has to be ready for that.”

“You got a young team, you can’t just go thinking, ‘Oh we played well over there. We rollin’, we rollin’.’ No, you about to get desperation. You about to see man worry about food for family. Man worrying about food for family. So when man start worrying about food to feed family — oh my god, you’re going to get the best of whatever they got left,” Irvin said on the show.

At the moment, the 49ers are dealing with some injury issues within their organization. Star players George Kittle, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Raheem Mostert all sat out Sunday’s win over the New York Giants at the MetLife Stadium. In addition to that, promising DE Nick Bosa was ruled out for the season with an ACL tear suffered in Week Two.
