WWE Clash of Champions: Latest News, Match Card, Where To Watch

The next major pay-per-view after Payback is coming in hot, and everyone is ready for it. Clash Of Champions is all set to witness major matches and a lot of titles are on the line. It is also accustomed to seeing the best of WWE Superstars compete and fight for the gold. However, what you may not know is that the Clash of Champions has a very deep root in WWE.

Clash of Champions was only inaugurated in 2016. This pay-per-view was initially only for the Raw brand. All Superstars on Raw's roster would compete and settle their differences at Clash of Champions.

As a rule, every title in the brand would also have to be defended at this event, which made it a very high profile pay-per-view.

Clash of Champions is, in a way, a continuation of Night of Champions, WWE’s historic event that ended in 2015.

Night of Champions was split up to make the competition more brand-centric, birthing the Clash of Champions as a platform for Raw Superstars, exclusively.

However, in 2018, WWE decided to stop all brand-centric pay-per-views once and for all. As a result of this, Clash of Champions, which was scheduled that year, got canceled and replaced by Evolution, which was exclusively for the Women’s Division.

In 2019, WWE brought back Clash of Champions in their late-year slot, and it now hosts Championship matches for all belts in WWE, except NXT.

Even though NXT is regarded as the third main brand, it has its separate event for the Championship belts.

Now, Clash of Champions finally seems on stable ground and will host the major tournament once again, and we may see a lot of title switches at the ThunderDome.
