On 8th March 2019, the official twitter page sent out a post that said “no microtransactions.” Currently, every online game out there has some form of microtransaction in them. Whether it is for cosmetics or new items, monetized content always creates a disparity in the community.

Cyberpunk 2077 is trying its best to have a unified community, considering every little aspect. The role-playing video game will try its best to encompass players from every stratum of the community. This is one of the most innovative ideas the gaming world has ever seen. Recently, they confirmed this possibility as an assurance for their loyal fans.

Cyberpunk 2077 will not have any microtransactions

The game has already started collecting accolades even before releasing. The ‘RPG Game Of the Year’ award was given to Cyberpunk 2077 at the Gamescom 2020. Although it was matched against two other unreleased games, Cyberpunk’s gameplay was enough to bag a prize.

An award-winning game is obviously going to be expensive. This is where CD Projekt Red differs from other developers. On twitter they announced, “Nothing changed. Cyberpunk 2077 is a single player game with zero microtransactions. One single purchase. No tricks. Don’t believe the clickbait.”

Additionally, the game will have a multiplayer version as well. This multiplayer version will have microtransactions. Now players may argue that this is against their initial promise, but it is not. The main game and multiplayer are two separate things. The transaction will have nothing to do with DLC.

Players have seen this form of open communication with games like Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Valorant. Cyberpunk 2077 also mentioned in their tweet, “We’ll have proper expansions and free DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. Plus free upgrades for next gen consoles. Please don’t worry.”

Regardless of all this, players are ecstatic to get the game finally. Notwithstanding the monetized multiplayer version, everyone is going to get their hands on Cyberpunk irrespective of the cost.
