The Mexico Formula E race was a chaotic affair that even had a red flag thrown in. Jaguar Racing’s Nelson Piquet Jr collided with DS Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne and prompted the red flag. The Brazilian was lining up a move on the Frenchman when the latter slammed the door shut and Piquet Jr could not slow down in time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6v8F6pfBYns At the start of the race, Wehrlein rocketed ahead while Mahindra teammate and new championship leader Jerome D’Ambrosio got a great start from the back of the grid. D’Ambrosio even made up 6 positions from 18th in the very first lap. From there, he clawed his way to finish 5th, though he gained a place when Wehrlein was penalised to 6th. Wehrlein led 99% of the race but low energy meant that he had to drop his pace. Sadly for him, his Mahindra reached 0% before the chequered flag, to team principal, Dilbagh Gill’s despair. Completing the top 3 after Wehrlein’s penalty were Antonio Felix Da Costa and Edoardo Mortara. The Mexico Formula E race was just the 4th round of the season and the drivers will be heading to Hong Kong on the 10th of March next.
