During the 2019 Formula One season, there was plenty of love lost between Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc. Although the two drivers and Scuderia Ferrari insist that everything is all water under the bridge, the question is “how long will the decorum last?”

Anybody who has followed Formula One for a long time, knows that Scuderia Ferrari always operates with a clear number 1-number 2 driver system. So, fielding two high-profile drivers was always going to be a tricky situation.

One notable incident was the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, where both Ferrari drivers collided. Naturally, tempers flared and both drivers were summoned to the headquarters to explain themselves. Fortunately, things have calmed down, though that did not stop Charles Leclerc from sending thinly veiled jabs at Vettel.

At an event in Italy, he was asked about sending Vettel a Christmas card this year. Earlier this week, Sebastian Vettel told Blick newspaper that ‘rivals don’t send each other Christmas cards’. However, he did confirm that Leclerc was still going to get one from him anyway.

The German driver revealed that he always sends cards to the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen and Max Verstappen. However, he confessed that he does not get a reply, nor does he expect one from them either.

Admittedly, Vettel has come under fire a lot for his sub-par performances, especially in 2019. Those criticisms have even led to people suspecting that the four-time world champion’s time in F1 is almost up.

Some like Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko, believe that Vettel’s main kryptonite is politics within the team. Marko affirmed that Vettel was comfortable at Red Bull because they eliminated politics from their atmosphere.

The Austrian was of the opinion that Sebastian Vettel craves unconditional support from whichever team he is in, in order to succeed.
