Clay Matthews Set to be Out of Action for an Extended Period with a Jaw Injury

Los Angeles Rams veteran linebacker Clay Matthews is set to stay out for a while, with him required to undergo a surgery after an injury to his jaw during the Thursday’s loss to Seattle Seahawks.
The Rams announced that Matthews will not be in action for “at least a month.”
The 33-year old Matthews has started all five games accumulating six sacks, two forced fumbles and 19 total tackles in his first year with the Los Angeles side.

Matthews’s first season at the Rams is his 11th overall in NFL, making six pro bowl appearances and wining a Super Bowl Championship. He signed with the Rams in March after 10 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, where he became the franchise’s all-time leader in sacks. He had a good first season in Los Angeles with 19 combined tackles and six sacks so far.

Matthews is not the only injury concern for the Rams as they have also announced that Brandin Cooks has been placed into concussion protocol. Cooks was also injured in the match against Seahawks
