Former World Number three, Grigor Dimitrov is striving to resurge on the ATP courts and presently he trains without a coach. The Bulgarian feels comfortable without a mentor on the tour and he’s in no hurry to appoint a full-time coach. Also, Dimitrov has no plans to turn up for the quadrennial event, Tokyo Olympics 2020.

“I’m not in a panic right now to find a coach. I always think that when I don’t have someone beside me, it’s hard to train. However, in the past months, I have done things myself that I have not done. You need to have freedom, to find yourself, to become closer to yourself,” Grigor Dimitrov told the local Bulgarian media, TennisKafe.

The 28-year-old, Dimitrov shows no interest in the Tokyo Games and it not on his schedule next year, “The Laver Cup is something completely different, the Davis Cup is already losing value. I have not played in the Davis Cup, so at the moment the upcoming Olympics is not in my plans. I don’t see who I can help with the Davis Cup,” he added.

Earlier, this year, Grigor Dimitrov teamed up with Andre Agassi, but the former American World Number one was not physically present in his box during the ATP matches. However, Dimitrov mentioned that he has been in touch with Agassi and regularly consults and receives advice from him.

“Andre has always been in contact (with me). He’s always there if I need to talk to him. The whole encyclopedia is that when you talk on the phone, you have to have an hour and a half free. He’s a special person,” Dimitrov stated.

Despite being apathetic towards the Olympics, Dimitrov will be seen at ATP Cup 2020 in Australia and he will be leading Team Bulgaria. “I look forward to playing in the ATP Cup, where I will be playing as captain. I can’t wait to begin this preparation. I’m glad for the young guys who will come with me and for being one of the first entrants,” he said.
