On the other hand, Finch believes Virat Kohli holds the edge over Smith in T20. However, he believes this to be the case owing to the fact that Kohli has played more matches than Smith in this format. He does add that by the time the Indian skipper retires, he will have become one of the best players of all-time.

Finch compares Kohli to Sachin Tendulkar saying while Tendulkar used to chase runs and score centuries, Kohli’s approach to the same is nothing short of “extra-ordinary”.

“Sachin (Tendulkar) got more hundreds and more runs but the way Virat constructs run chases and the number of hundreds he has got in winning run chases is extra-ordinary. So, T20, Virat probably has the edge over Steve Smith and it is just because he has played a bit more cricket.”

He concludes with the thought that both Virat Kohli and Steve Smith are good picks for any team given the fact that they always do the job and put up a “bloody good” performance.
