Brad Hoggs Expresses His Opinion About MS Dhoni Returning to The Indian Team for the T20 World Cup

MS Dhoni, the veteran Indian cricketer, has not been a part of any on-field tournaments since 2019 World Cup semi-finals. During July last year Martin Guptill dismisses him at the Old Trafford. Since then, he has been on a self-claimed sabbatical and training with the Indian army.
Initially, the MSK Prasad led selection panel said that they are looking beyond Dhoni. The focus is shifting from him to the likes of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. These players are proving themselves on-field as a great wicketkeeper-batsman. However, the recent selection committee said that if MS Dhoni can prove himself on field, then he will be considered.

As a response, Brad Hogg says that unfortunately it will not be suitable for MS Dhoni to play the T20 series. Considering he hasn’t played enough competitive cricket, it is expected that playing the IPL will not be enough practice. Additionally, the playing conditions of India defer from that of Australia’s.
“Pending IPL performances, but sadly I think not, due to lack of international exposure lately & IPL he is playing the majority of games in Chennai (if it goes ahead) which is suited for spin not pace, the conditions he will get in Australia. #hoggytime #IPLT20.”

MS Dhoni’s comeback to the field was supposed to be during the IPL 2020. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the event is not going to proceed as per plans. If the event does not proceed, then it is highly possible that even the selection committee will not consider him for the World Cup team. Additionally, there is no saying when the IPL 2020 will start.
