Harbhajan Singh and Ravi Shastri Urge Citizens to Support PM Modi’s Initiative on April 5

Former Indian players Harbhajan Singh and Ravi Shastri have come forward to support the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to display the unity of the nation by lightening up the entire country on April 5. 

The entire country is undergoing a lockdown for 21 days to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. In these difficult times, Prime Minister has been trying to unite the nation through different mediums. 

This time Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the citizens to switch off their house lights on April 5 at 9 pm for 9 mins. Also, he urged the citizens to light up lamps, diyas, candles, torch or mobile flashlights in their balconies for 9 mins in their balconies or windows while maintaining the social distancing.

It can be seen as a symbolic message to fight the darkness of deadly COVID-19 with light. The Prime Minister made this request in his third address to the nation during the ongoing outbreak on April 3.

Earlier the entire nation had saluted the coronavirus warriors for 5 mins on the call of the Prime Minister. That was a historic moment for India. 

Harbhajan Singh and Ravi Shastri lauds PM

The veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh appreciated Prime Minister on twitter and urged citizens to follow him.

His post read, “Every individual has his own part to do 2 stay home. We r proud of our Team Leader @narendramodi Let’s all continue to Stay home & be Safe.5th April at 9 pm for 9mins all lights off. Candles, Diya, torch, mobile flash to use bt only from home. No Streets Show Please.”

Indian team coach Ravi Shastri also supported the Prime Minister by making a post on his official twitter handle. 

He wrote, “To reignite the united strength of 130 Crore people, let us light a lamp| a candle | torch | mobile flashlight at 9 pm for 9 minutes on Sunday – 5th April. Let’s build up a new energy to fight this #COVID crisis #IndiaFightsCorona #SocialDistancing – @narendramodi @ianuragthakur,”
