“I Howled Till About Three in the Morning” Virat Kohli Speaks About his First Rejection

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli along with his wife Anushka Sharma spoke on the topic ‘motivation’ in an online session organized by ‘Unacademy’.
During the session, Virat Kohli talked about the failures he had to face before getting selected for the Indian team. He also remembered the incident where he cried throughout the night for being rejected by his state team. Virat Kohli is arguably the world’s leading batsman in all the three formats of the game. He has a lot of records on his name. But Kohli had his share of struggles before making it to the top.
Talking about his first rejection, Virat revealed, “The first time I was rejected in the state selections, I remember it was late at night and I just cried,”

He further added, “I howled till about three in the morning and I could not believe it. Because I scored well, everything was going perfectly for me. I performed till I reached that stage and I was rejected.”
“And I kept asking my coach for two hours, why didn’t it happen? And I couldn’t make sense of it. But when there is passion and commitment, that motivation comes back to you.”, said the cricket superstar.

I have learned patience from Anushka: Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli often talks about the influence of his wife on his life. In the session also, he pointed out how the Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has changed his life for good. Virat and Anushka have been seeing each other since 2013. Both tied the knot in a private ceremony in Italy in December 2017.
The 31-year-old acknowledged, “To be honest the patience bit I have learned ever since I and Anushka met each other. I was very impatient before,”

Virat added, “The learnings from one another that we have had, looking at her personality, looking at her composure in situations has really inspired me to fight it out.”
The legend concluded saying, “Even when things are tough you have to swallow your ego and keep being there in adversity, keep fighting your way out and eventually you will find away. So that’s what I have seen her do and I have learned from that.”
