IPL 2020 : KKR Team Training in Isolation under Brendon McCullum’s Coaching

Brendon Mccullum, the head coach of KKR is utilizing his time properly by training his team for IPL 2020. 

The coronavirus outbreak has created havoc in the world. All the sporting events have either been suspended or canceled for the time being. 

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League was scheduled to start on March 29,2020. However, BCCI decided to postpone the tournament till April 15 after the government denied issuing visas to the foreign players in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.

As a result, all the IPL franchises have put a hold on their practice and training sessions. But the Kolkata Knight Riders have found a perfect way to remain fit while being in quarantine. 

The strength and conditioning coach of KKR, Chris Donaldson has devised a schedule for his team players. The players are expected to complete the exercises giving in the time table in a day. Chris has made sure to keep the exercises such that they can be done indoors. 

Mccullum praises Chris

Appreciating this idea by Chris, Mccullum took it to twitter to praise their S & C coach. He also shared a pic of their fitness schedule. 

Brendon tweeted, “A day for the Ladders after night for the Snakes. Our @KKRiders S&C Trainer Chris Donaldson is sending through daily workouts to the KKR team during these times of home isolation. Probably a little tough for us coaches but it’s good for the mind and the roof.”

IPL 2020 in danger?

The chances of BCCI conducting the IPL after April 15 looks bleak. India is in lockdown for 21 days ending on April 14. 

However, the coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly in the country and organizing such large scale public events like IPL 2020 would not be advisable.

Also, the government can extend the travel ban due to which the overseas players would not be able to take part in the tournament.
