England all-rounder Ben Stokes recently confirmed his availability for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League.

The tournament was scheduled to start on March 29,2020. However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, BCCI has postponed the IPL 2020 till April 15, 2020. India is currently in a state of lockdown for 21 days, with the last date being April 14. But owing to the present scenario, the chances of BCCI conducting the IPL this year looks grim.

Stokes admitted, “At the moment my next competitive cricket is going to be the IPL”

As BCCI hasn’t made any official statement regarding the future of the tournament, Stokes is preparing himself to play the IPL this year.

He added, “That hasn’t changed yet so I have to think I will be playing on April 20. I have to get my head around that I am playing even though in the back of my mind I know I am probably not. I have to build up and get myself physically in a position that if it does happen I am good to go.”

Moreover, “I cannot take three weeks off and expect the body to be ready for April 20 because it doesn’t work like that. It might happen and if it does I don’t want to be behind.”

He further said, “There will be a lot of advice given to us and if it was an option to go we will have to take the sensible one.”
