Everyone worldwide is taking precautions against the Coronavirus threat. This includes sporting events, conferences, and other events. One of the biggest events that is facing the adverse effects of the virus is IPL 2020.

BCCI decides to postpone Indian Premier League

Initially the idea was to continue with the event but without an audience present. However, when the Indian Government started imposing bans on foreign visas, it did not seem prudent to go ahead with the event. One of the main attractions of IPL 2020 will be the foreign players coming together along with the new loaning system. If the foreign players cannot make it to the field, the event will lose its charm. Therefore, the BCCI decided to postpone the event instead of cancelling it.

While the speculations regarding the future of the event was making rounds, all the franchise owners and management attended a meeting. The internal details of the meeting is not out for the public yet. However, Bollywood celebrity Shahrukh Khan takes to Twitter to express his feelings regarding IPL 2020 and the effects of Coronavirus. He is the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders.

He expresses that all the owners are putting the health of the team, audience, and management first. Therefore, all the franchises will continue to work closely with the BCCI to decide the future of IPL 2020. Currently, the franchises will follow protocol and the advice of the medical experts. Finally, he ends it by making a quick mention regarding the importance of keeping personal hygiene top-notch at all points.

On the other hand, the BCCI is not going to let the India Vs South Africa ODI series continue as well. The decision is that the series will not go ahead as of now. All of these precautions are being taken after World Health Organisation made the official announcement declaring Coronavirus as a pandemic.

Not only is the India Vs South Africa series not happening, but also the Australia Vs New Zealand series. The New Zealand Government is planning to impose border restrictions. Hence, the players who are in Australia for the series will have to return home before these restrictions are set in motion.
