Mohammad Amir and Haris Sohail Withdraw Their Names From The Squad Which will Tour England

Pakistan Team’s fast bowler Mohammad Amir and batsman Haris Sohail have voluntarily withdrawn their names from the squad which will go on the England tour.

The Pakistan team will be in touring England for over two months

The Pakistan team along with the support staff will arrive in England weeks prior to the first match. Not only is this for to practise in the country but also to ensure the entire group have had their mandatory quarantine period. Hence, the entire group will end up spending over two months in the country.

Furthermore, the group will form a bubble so that they do not interact with anyone form outside the group. On to of that, there will be regular tests for COVID-19 which will be conducted throughout the group’s time in England.

As per reports, both the players withdrew their names due to personal reasons. Mohammad Amir, who has retired from Test Cricket and can only play in T20, did so to be present for the birth of his second child. On the other hand, it is not clear exactly why Haris Sohail took his name off the squad, but then it is understood that his reasons are personal as well.

The Tests and T20s that Mohammad Amir will not be a part of will take place without an audience. Moreover, ICC has approved using substitutes in case any player falls victim to Coronavirus during the matches. Unfortunately, no member of family can accompany players on this tour.

The PCB said the group will include 28 players along with 14 individuals as the support staff. Pakistan will be the second team that will tour England. The first team to do so is West Indies who will play three Test matches commencing from July 8th. Three West Indies player withdrew their names from the squad due to Coronavirus concerns – Darren Bravo, Keemo Paul, and Shimron Hetmyer.
