He used this bat to score five international centuries. In fact, this was the bat that he used to score the two centuries during his 100th Test match. This is a record that only he holds in the entire history of Test Cricket. Furthermore, this was the bat that he used to score 164 runs in the ODI against South Africa. His scoring spree allowed Australia to breach the 400 runs by a team for the first time.

In the tweet he mentions that he used this bat for as long as possible. Therefore, considering his achievements with the bat, there is high doubts that this will ever go up for auction.

The former skipper continues to hold the record for highest International centuries among Australian players
The former Australian skipper has scored 27,486 runs during his international career. On top of that, Ricky Ponting has successfully led Australia across all three formats of cricket. Till now, there has been no Australian player who has scored more international centuries than what he has.

Australia won two World Cups (2003 and 2007) under Ricky Ponting’s captaincy. He was part of the national squad that secured the 1999 World Cup, however, the skipper at that point was Steve Waugh.
