“There Would be No IPL” – Says Shoaib Akhtar

Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar believes that there would be no T20 World Cup and Indian Premier League (IPL) this year due to the coronavirus outbreak. He expressed his views regarding the bilateral series between India and Pakistan. The former pacer also talked about how the cricketers can improve their game and strength in this free time.
The thick black clouds of coronavirus have enveloped every part of the world spreading its aura of terror. As a result, all the sporting activities have canceled or suspended indefinitely across the globe. The game of cricket is badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The major tournaments like IPL 2020, T20 World Cup are in danger and most likely to get suspended further.

Shoaib Akhtar gives a verdict on IPL and T20 World Cup

Shoaib Akhtar interacted with the fans in a live session on the Helo app. In the session, he revealed that the T20 World Cup starting from October is unlikely to take place. He also said that there will be no IPL due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus.
The Rawalpindi Express said, “T20 World Cup, starting October 18 is likely to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I also feel that there will be no IPL this year due to the pandemic. But this break is the best time for the cricketers to work on their immune system and get back with the same intensity and vigor when the sporting action resumes,”

Shoaib Akhtar further added that this is the perfect time to improve the relationship between India and Pakistan through sports. The two teams haven’t played any bilateral series with each other for the last 8 years. The pacer appreciated the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the steps taken to curb the spread of the virus.

The 44-year-old quoted, “It is high time when we can have a good bilateral relationship between India and Pakistan through sport. Lockdown was the best decision taken by the Modi-led government in India. That is the only way you can contain a pandemic like this,”
