Women’s T20 World Cup: India in the Finals for the First Time

The Indian Women’s Team marks their spot for the Women’s T20 World Cup finals. The semi-finals between India and England due for Thursday was wiped off by the rain. Since India’s scores within their group is highest as compared to England, the Indian Women’s team enters the finals. The T20 World Cup official Twitter account made an announcement about the Indian team making it to the finals.

The entire cricket society took to Twitter to congratulate the team for making it to the Women’s T20 World Cup finals.

The Men in Blue skipper, Virat Kohli, congratulates Harmanpreet Kaur and her team.

“Congratulations to the Indian Women’s team on qualifying for the @T20WorldCup final. We are proud of you girls and wish you all the luck for the finals. @BCCIWomen.”

Request put in for reserve days

Even though the team made it to the finals without playing a delivery, they did want to play the semi-finals. Now, the host of the event, Australia, did put forward a request for a reserve day for semi-finals. Unfortunately, the International Cricket Council did not respond positively to the request.

The Women in Blue skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur, said, “Unfortunately we didn’t get a game, but there are rules and we have to follow it. Having reserve days in the future will be a great idea.”

The second semi-finals is going to be between South Africa and Australia. India will be facing the winner of this match at the finals of the Women’s T20 World Cup. This match is scheduled for Sunday at the MCG. On the other hand, if there is a similar incident of heavy showers, then South Africa will proceed to the finals.
