Cyberpunk 2077 Has Turned Out to Be a Huge Hit in China, Even Without an Official Release

CD Projekt RED sure took its time in releasing the much-anticipated open-world FPS title, Cyberpunk 2077. The game had a huge launch day sales record, as was expected of it, and the gaming community started treating it like the Holy Grail when it dropped. Looks like the rampant issues that players have discovered in the game have not been able to put a dent in the game’s popularity yet, and the sales figures are still on a steep rise.

Now, the game has not yet released in certain parts of the world, but that has not stopped players from getting a taste of it! As many of you might already know, the game has already become available on various piracy and torrent sites, as we expected would be the case once the game dropped.

The game seems to be doing really well in China on the streaming platforms, and some have even described the sales of the game to be huge. But the interesting part is that the game has not yet received an official sales permit in the country, which has raised obvious questions.

Now would be a good time to point out that the number of pre-orders for the game were among the highest in China. As it turns out, some fans have been using Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store to buy it, while others have been ordering the console version from the US and other parts of Asia.

Moreover, Chinese players and streamers have been able to attract viewers in numbers as high as 19 million across platforms like Douyu, Huya, and Bilibili, thanks to streaming the game. However, there is always the looming fear that officials might put an end to the online sales of Cyberpunk 2077 at any time.
