The qualifying session of the Austrian Grand Prix 2019 had a lot of action and drama in it. Traffic was a major issue as drivers got in each other’s way and blocked each other. Even Lewis Hamilton was not safe, as he was caught out for blocking Kimi Raikkonen in Q1. However, an even bigger disaster was avoided due to the quick thinking and reflexes of Daniil Kvyat.

The Russian driver was in the closing stages of a hot lap when he came across traffic. The startled Daniil Kvyat nearly speared into the back of the nearest car, one of the Williams. Fortunately, he took avoiding acting and went of the track, missing all the cars.

Getting in his way was the Williams, his teammate Alexander Albon and one of the Alfa Romeos. Luckily, there was no harm done, though Kvyat screamed on the radio, “What the f*** was that!? I almost killed someone!.”

Sadly, poor old Daniil Kvyat could only muster 15th place, unless the FIA hands out penalties for impeding. So far, only Lewis Hamilton has been handed a penalty for impeding.
