Toro Rosso boss, Franz Tost hopes to see Daniil Kvyat back on the grid and nothing can change our focus from the irony of the situation. Here is the thing, not only did Toro Rosso dropped Kvyat, he is now out of the whole Red Bull’s motorsport programme. In an exclusive interview to Formula 1, Tost said:

“I am still convinced that Daniil has a very high natural speed. He was sometimes even faster than Daniel Ricciardo”.

Tost though also explained why Kvyat could not perform:

“Somehow last year and this year he couldn’t show the potential that is within him. He was involved in many incidents – but in his defence I also have to say that he had many reliability issues and that didn’t help build up confidence. Being the victim of too many incidents killed the performance he would have been able to show.”

On being asked what is essentially wrong with Kvyat’s driving style, Franz said:

“Sometimes he was too aggressive at the beginning of the race. The first corner was his weak point. He wanted too much in the first hundred metres – success by any means! That puts you under pressure – unnecessary pressure – and that never works”

But if Kvyat was aggressive enough to be dropped, why would any other constructor want him on-board? Franz has thought of it:

“Maybe a short break – to get organized again – and probably we will see Daniil back at his usual performance level with another team. I hope for him that he gets another chance, as I think he deserves to be in F1.”

As of now, Kvyat is looking for a drive in Formula 1 and other motor sport events. With no confirmation yet, such a strong reference must work in favour of the Russian. Though it looks like he will  have to reduce the ‘Torpedo’ action on track. Much to the dismay of fans of dive bombs and delight for the defending driver.
