The machine man of ATP, Daniil Medvedev made it to his sixth straight final on the ATP Tour on Sunday, but the man who has won 59 matches this year is skeptical about surpassing the records of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic who made it to 17 consecutive finals on the ATP circuit.

“I do think it’s impossible, but, well, there are two guys who have done it, which I actually didn’t know it, which is just unbelievable. I don’t have any words to describe this. I mean, for myself making six in a row including three Masters and one Grand Slam is something I could never dream of, to be honest. But I want to keep the momentum going and hope I can make it to seven or eight. Let’s see about 17 later,” Daniil Medvedev.

The Russian tennis phenom can possibly attain Federer and Djokovic’s niche. He has been consistent on the ATP Tour this year and now, he has claimed 18 straight sets in a row.

Over the past nine years, besides, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, none of the active ATP men aged under 28 could make it to the finals of a Grand Slam (barring Dominic Thiem and Milos Raonic), but Medvedev changed that stat last month in New York.

The 23-year-old, Medvedev is the only young generation contender to make it to the hardcourt Grand Slam finals and pulled off two sets against the ‘Big Three’ contender, Rafael Nadal. After the then-20-year-old, Juan Martin del Potro in 2009, Medvedev became the youngest Grand Slam, finalist.

To no one’s surprise, World Number four, Daniil Medvedev is one of the best players on the ATP Tour and his promising acts on the professional courts will take him a long way in his tennis career. He plays incredible tennis on crucial points and keeps his momentum unbroken throughout the match.

On Sunday, he defeated Alexander Zverev, 6-4, 6-1 to pull off the Rolex Shanghai Masters 2019 title and won his second consecutive Masters 1000 title of his career. He became the second man outside the ‘Big Four’ of tennis to claim two consecutive Masters 1000 titles on the ATP Tour. Also, the Shanghai Masters tournament welcomes a champion not named Roger FedererNovak Djokovic, and Andy Murray.
