Russian rising sensation Daniil Medvedev cruises past his arch-rival Alexander Zverev 6-4, 6-1 to clinch his second ATP Masters 1000 title on Sunday at the Shanghai Rolex Masters 2019. With this victory, the US Open runner-up became the first player outside the ‘Big Four’ to win two masters 1000 titles in a single season.

Daniil Medvedev entered the match as the favorite and he justified it as he broke Alexander Zverev in his opening service game of the match. The German stepped up in the fourth game of the set as he held his first service game and earned three chances to get back on serve in the next game.

Set two

The 23-year-old was under pressure in his opening service game of the second set as Zverev was frequently asking questions to earn an early breakpoint but a composed Medvedev held his nerves to save the breakpoint and held his serve.

Alexander Zverev was then looking to close a comfortable service game at 40-0, however, Daniil Medvedev came back to break to put himself on the driver seat.

While every service game was looking like an imperative for the German, Daniil Medvedev was perfect behind his serves. He broke Zverev again before wrapping up the match 6-3, 6-1 in just 1 hour and 13 minutes.
