John Peers and Jordan Thompson, pushed Australia ahead in the Davis Cup (doubles rubber) tie against Belgium (6-3, 6-4, 6-0 ). Earlier Nick Kyrgios won an epic five setter, to bring Australia on par with Belgium after David Goffin put Belgium into the lead. Before the tournament began, Kyrgios said that the Davis cup was his number one priority for the year, praised the team captain Leyton Hewitt, for his leadership qualities. “Captain Lleyton Hewitt and I have put so much dedication into this,” he said. “We must be favorites going into the doubles tomorrow.”

Belgium are now behind (1-2) Australia in the semifinal tie, having gone one nil up initially.

France 2 Serbia 1

Elsewhere Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert put France ahead in the other semifinal of the Davis cup against Serbia. Serbia are without their number one player Novak Djokovic, and Victor Troicki was also absent from the proceedings. Dusan Lajovic, played a brilliant first match against Lucas Pouille to put Serbia ahead in the tie. Tomorrow’s matches will decide the finalists.

France will look to go into the finals, its first since 2014, while Australia haven’t reached the finals since 2003.

KAZAKHSTAN 2, ARGENTINA 1

Timur Khabibulin and Alexander Nedovesov lost the first set but managed to bounce back to defeat Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni. With this victory in the doubles, Kazakhstan take the lead with a score of 2-1 in the best of 5 series.

COLOMBIA 1, CROATIA 1

Marin Cilic drew first blood in Croatia’s match against Colombia. Santiago Giraldo scored one back for the Colombians after defeating Franko Škugor in a five-set thriller. In the doubles, Juan Sebastián Cabal will team up with Alejandro Falla to face Nikola Mektić and Franko Škugor for a chance to break the deadlock.

SWITZERLAND 1, BELARUS 1

Switzerland are trying to hold their own in the absence of Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka. Marco Chiudinelli won his match for the Swiss before Yaraslau Shyla took one win for Belarus.

NETHERLANDS 0, CZECH REPUBLIC 2

The Czech are really suffering without marquee player Tomas Berdych and have gone 2-0 down. Fortunately for them, they still have 3 matches to turn around the deficit.
