“Disunion is Definitely Not The Solution”: Rafael Nadal On Novak Djokovic’s Proposed Formation of Separate Players’ Union

Tennis resumed action after a long break from COVID-19. The Western and Southern Open is definitely a hit and players are looking forward to the US Open commencing on August 31. However, Novak Djokovic called for the creation of a union solely for the protection of the interests of the players. Rafael Nadal tweeted to present his views on this matter. However, the tweets are against the decision of the union.

Nadal called for a unification of tennis. Showcasing the scenario of the world, he is trying to induce the fact that ‘unity is strength’.

“The world is living a difficult and complicated situation. I personally believe these are times to be calm and work all of us together in the same direction. It is time for unity, not for separation.”

“These are moments where big things can be achieved as long as the world of tennis is united. We all, players, tournaments, and governing bodies have to work together. We have a bigger problem and separation and disunion is definitely not the solution”, the tweet read.

Rafael Nadal says no, where do other players stand?

Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil are on their way to form a union. The sole purpose of which would be the safeguard of the interests of the players. The Professional Tennis Players Association abbreviated the PTPA aims to ” to promote, protect and represent the interests of its players … and protect the future of tennis.”

Djokovic aims to gather support from the tennis world for the formation. Rafael Nadal’s inclusion was important as the Spaniard possesses immense influence in the tennis sector. Milos Raonic has agreed to be a part of the union. Though Roger Federer is yet to answer.

Significantly a lot of issues concerning the tennis players came up recently. Due to the pandemic situation, tours were canceled and many lower-ranked players suffered financial constraints. Possibly keeping this thing in mind, Djokovic and Pospilis are moving for a union. However, the Spaniard has voted against this proposal.
