He pulled out from the Ohio Masters due to illness. Thiem has caught cold and last night the Austrian was down with fever. Hence physically he is not fit to play tennis for the moment. In Cincinnati’s opener, Thiem was drawn to open against Richard Gasquet, who defeated Andy Murray yesterday in his opening round.

Besides his deep runs on the clay courts this year, Dominic Thiem pulled off the biggest title of his career at Indian Wells Masters by knocking down Roger Federer in the finals. In Montreal last week, Thiem played tough matches against Denis Shapovalov and Marin Cilic, and in the following round, he fell to the ultimate finalist, Daniil Medvedev.

On the ATP courts of Ohio, Stan Wawrinka rallied past Grigor Dimitrov 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 in 2 hours and 33 minutes in their first-round match at Cincinnati Open 2019. Stan extended his winning streak to five matches against Dimitrov.
