World No.5 Dominic Thiem takes a dig at American actress Caryn Elaine Johnson, also known as Whoopi Goldberg for adding fuel to media manipulation over Serena Williams controversy during French Open 2019 as he reveals that Williams had cleared the air with him regarding the incident.

Talking about the controversy in Paris, Dominic Thiem said in an interview with The Standard, “It was all blown up, Williams then explained everything to me in Wimbledon. It was a mistake by the organizers and a chain of extremely unfortunate circumstances.”

Thiem further added: “The incident is over. But it is already worrying how fast such a thing spreads and people like Whoopi Goldberg spice it up.”

Earlier, Dominic Thiem was booted out of the main press conference room at the Roland Garros to make way for the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams – who was forced by the organizers to get her media duties over and done with, when Dominic Thiem was in the middle of his press conference.

However, according to media reports, Serena Williams was desperate to fulfill her media obligations as soon as possible, following her third-round defeat to compatriot Sofia Kenin and ejected Thiem from the main interview room.

Whoopi Goldberg also supported the fact that Serena Williams interfered Dominic Thiem during his press conference and said that the American was right to cut in on the Austrian press conference so she could get her own one done.

Goldberg further suggested that nobody knows the French Open finalist and people wanted to know what’s happening with Serena Williams.

“She wanted to get outta’ there because she didn’t win. I would feel the same way,” Goldberg said, upholding why Williams deserved the right of way. “Listen man, don’t nobody know who you are!”

She concluded: “You may be big in the tennis world but this is a big deal that she was out this early. People want to know what’s happening, how she doing. Don’t blame her! Stop being a bonehead, don’t blame her.”
