Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem is one of the most successful players of the younger generation. He is the first player from the new lot of players to break the ice and win a Grand Slam title. However, he has not begun the 2021 season on his usual note.

In the current season, Dominic Thiem has not got the desired results. He competed at the season’s first Grand Slam event in Melbourne but failed to achieve anything concrete. During the Australian Open, he came as far as the fourth round. Meanwhile, in the previous season, he was the finalist and was involved in an epic encounter against Novak Djokovic.

Reflecting on his break from the Tour post a string of poor results, Thiem stated, “I just didn’t do anything at all once. I just got away from it all and also watched very very little tennis – just come up with completely new ideas… Just don’t do anything for a week and don’t even think about tennis, don’t watch tennis, and then at some point, you’ll get hungry again.”

Dominic Thiem switched himself off from tennis

The Austrian insisted it was necessary to take a complete break from the game. He switched himself off from anything and everything that had an association with tennis. Sometimes, the harshest decisions have to be made in order to get the required results.

Speaking more in detail with regard to refreshing his mindset, the 27-year-old player added, “I think that’s the most important thing because if you take a break and then you still study results all the time or watch the tournament in Miami or whatever, I don’t think you can really get away from that, but it has to be done.”
