Dominic Thiem is one of the fastest rising stars in the game. The Austrian is expected to be one of those players who’ll break the hegemony of the big 3.

2020 is expected to be the year when world number 4 will finally be awarded for his efforts with some grand slam victories. To kick off the season, Dominic Thiem arrived in Sydney to officially kickstart the countdown for the inaugural ATP Cup.

Thiem was greeted by the Australian Media in the airport. Thiem answered some of their questions.

The Austrian said that he was pretty excited to be in Australia. He acknowledged the uniqueness of the ATP Cup in so far as it allows him to represent his country and play for Team Austria. Whereas his normal victories go after his name, this will be a victory for the country.

The obvious question was about his feelings about playing with his childhood friend Dennis Novak. Dominic was really excited by this prospect as he’s always been willing to share the court with his friend. It will be interesting to see their partnership unfold in Australia.

Lastly, Thiem urged the Australian crowd to cheer for the Austrian team as they are a hard-working unit who’ll look to give their best in the innovative tournament.

How Does Team Austria Look For The ATP Cup? 

Team Austria is being led by Dominic Thiem for the ATP Cup. The Austrian team is placed in Group F along with Croatia (Led by Borna Coric), Argentina (Led by Diego Schwartzman) and Poland (Led by Hubert Hurkacz).
