Weather and pitch report

The Met Office has the probability of heavy rain sitting between 90 and 60 per cent from an hour before play to its scheduled close, when it slides to a more optimistic 50 per cent.

H2H record

England and Australia have been played in 70 series since 1882-83 where England won 32 times and 33 by Australia. Only five Ashes series ended in a draw. Out of the 330 Ashes tests, England won 106 while 134 tests won by Australia with the remaining 90 all were draws.

Wicketkeeper

Jonny Bairstow, the wicketkeeper-batsman of England has been chosen in the ENG vs AUS Dream 11 Predictions Team. He has been in great form for the last couple of months with the bat and he is as good as behind the stumps. In the first test, however, he was dismissed early and with single digit figures, so he will be looking for redemption.

Batsmen

Both the sides have plenty of key batsmen who can change the game anytime. David Warner and Steve Smith represent Australia, while Joe Root and Rory Burns balance out the side. Warner, Root, Smith all are coming from a great campaign in the recently concluded ICC World Cup and it is expected that they will continue to do well in the Ashes as well. Meanwhile, Rory Burns had an excellent first innings when he smashed a century, so he could be a valuable asset.

All-rounders

Australia’s Travis Head and England’s Ben Stokes can be the two all-rounders in the ENG vs AUS Dream11 predictions team. Their inclusion will provide more strength in the middle-order of their respective teams. In the first England innings, Stokes put in a solid 50 runs on the board. Head, on the other hand, had scores of 35 and 51 to help Australia take the first match

As the pitch will have the moisture, fast bowlers will be beneficial. Both the teams will try to use the condition with their terrific pace bowlers. However, four bowlers have been included in the ENG vs AUS Dream11 predictions team, Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad, Peter Siddle and Mitchell Starc. While Broad was a key wicket-taker in the first test, Archer’s skill in long-form cricket will be a matter of great interest. Meanwhile, Starc has been in impeccable form for the last couple of months. Siddle too, proved to be quite lethal with the ball and has taken a few scalps in the first test.

Captain and vice-captain

Steve Smith and Start Broad have been chosen the captain and vice-captain respectively of the Ashes 2019 ENG vs AUS Dream 11 team predictions.
