It has been well over a year since the coronavirus pandemic dawned upon the world. Yet, with its mutation and increased resistance, the virus has been able to keep humans in fear even now. However, the fightback against the virus has started with the deployment of the vaccine. Naturally, it has been a topic of discussion lately among the tennis fraternity, splitting the tennis world. And now, two-time Grand Slam champion, Petra Kvitova has expressed her keenness to get the jab.

Kvitova raised her points for taking the vaccine by emphasizing the amount of traveling a tennis player does. With many of her colleagues taking the vaccine, Petra is now happy to go ahead with it and get it herself.

“I mean for us as we are people who travel a lot that I think it’s very important and I’m really thinking that I will take it. Before I was like 50-50. I didn’t want to be the first one, so that’s probably it’s gone and so I’m really thinking to take it.”

For Petra, location is a vital aspect in considering the vaccine. She has an eye on the Tokyo Olympic Games and thus wants to take the jab.

“Yeah, I’m actually I’m thinking to taking it I’m not sure if I gonna take it here in USA or back at home. Especially for the Olympics Games I heard that it will be good to have it,” Petra Kvitova told EssentiallySports.

Ash Barty and Naomi Osaka say yes to the coronavirus vaccine

World No.1 Ash Barty and World No.2 Naomi Osaka have been pro-vaccine as well. Both of them want vaccines and are waiting for their turn to get them.

Osaka said: “I’m planning on getting one. Whenever I’m eligible, I guess.”

Ash Barty not only wants the vaccine for herself but also for her family.

Furthermore, Simona Halep has already vaccinated herself in Romania but remains one of the few tennis players to take it. Hopefully, her move will sway a lot of her colleagues to do the same.

On the flip side of the coin, some players are against the vaccine. ATP players Diego Schwartzman and Andrey Rublev have never been vaccinated in their life and thus won’t be taking the coronavirus vaccine as well. Whereas World No.5 Elina Svitolina is worried about the side effects of the vaccine and thus won’t be taking it.
