It is already a given fact that Nintendo is a giant in the video game industry and has had significant moments to mark its feat. Nintendo has revolutionized gaming over the past few decades from some epic game franchises such as the Mario Brothers and the amazing consoles.

The Nintendo Switch has been on the market for quite some time and has steadily gained a commanding position in the console industry. Sony and Microsoft have been fighting for dominance in the field. However, in the United States, the Nintendo Switch appears to have surpassed its opponent Sony.

 

As you can read in the above tweet, Switch distributed 23.06 million in the fiscal year 2021-22 and added almost 4.11 million units to sales in Q4 of the previous fiscal year. This would mean that the Nintendo Switch console will now soon go up to beat PS4 and GameBoy to become the third best-selling console in history.

Another great piece of news to affirm this fact is how Nintendo Switch has beat the PlayStation 4 in terms of sales in the United States. Here are some figures to help you affirm Switch’s dominance in the American market.

Gap change in the latest month: 961,412–PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: 1,932,217–Switch

Total Lead: 8,124,403–Switch

Switch Total Sales: 35,622,126

PS4 Total Sales: 27,497,723

The Switch has strengthened its lead by 1.93 million units in the last year. With 8.12 million copies sold, it now maintains the lead.

The Switch marked its 61st month in March 2022, while the PS4  marked the same in November 2018. The Switch sold 35.62 million units during the same time span, while the PS4 sold 27.50 million.
