The next-gen update of The Witcher 3 brought with it a bunch of new features and upgrades. This game was already considered one of the best-looking fantasy RPGs of its time. And this new update introduced features like high-resolution textures and ray-traced shadows and reflections to it. Alongside these visual upgrades, fans also got access to a 60n FPS mode on consoles, and a full 4k mode.

All these features were also made available on the PC version of this game. This next-gen version was released for the Witcher 3 PC on the same day as the consoles. But the PC version got a lot more than just visual upgrades.

It got a bunch of performance issues. Almost immediately after the launch of the new version, gamers who gave it a go on PC started facing several issues. The biggest and most consistent among them was stuttering.

The stuttering was so bad that people playing it were also facing a severe input lag. If not input lag, then it was the crashes. And people were quick to post complaints online.

CD Projekt Red was quick to respond too. Within just a few days, they released a patch to rectify some of those issues. However, some of the issues have not been rectified yet. And it appears that the developer is working on a big patch to fix all remaining issues with the PC version. With fans getting more eager each day, it remains to be seen when they launch it.

CD Projekt Red has seen a couple of broken launches before as well. When The Witcher 3 first launched in 2015, it had several issues. The developer took it upon themselves to fix all of those issues, including a bunch of gameplay issues the players were facing.

The issues with Cyberpunk 2077 were even worse, and the game got a lot of negative publicity in 2020. Cyberpunk was released in a completely broken state, with its release being called a disaster. It took the developer over a year to fix that game.

It is no surprise that CD Projekt Red might release a game that’s sort of broken. But it’s also not surprising that they will own up to the issues and actually fix them.
