Hideo Kojima Affirms His Stance on Playstation and Xbox Loyalties

As we all know, gaming companies need to cater to audiences from different parts of the world. After all, it allows them to lead multiple markets and increase their sales. But, sometimes they cannot do it because of various reasons.

A prime example of this is the Xbox which heavily lags in the Japanese markets. The sole reason for this is Sony, which controls the market with its variety of titles. Now, to conquer over their arch-rivals, Xbox made a massive announcement during their Summer Games Fest bit.

They claimed to partner with the Japanese video game designer Hideo Kojima for an upcoming project.

During the Xbox Bethesda showcase, Microsoft gaming CEO Phil Spencer took the center stage to reveal crucial information. He finally let out the company’s plans for its Japanese fans as Xbox heavily lagged in that country. Spencer claimed that Japan was the heart of video games, so his company wanted to do something for them.

While talking in-depth, he said, ‘Japan is the home to some of the most talented and well-known game creators anywhere in the world.’ The comment came right after Xbox revealed Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, a new game from Team Ninja. The title will be a part of the upcoming Xbox Games Pass at launch. 

While talking more about what Microsoft is planning for its Japanese fans, Spencer said, ‘Xbox knows how important it is to our fans to bring more Japanese franchises.’ So, they ended up releasing the Persona series releasing on Xbox.

It was a matter of minutes before Spencer introduced the legendary designer Hideo Kojima. In his opening line about Kojima, Spencer said, ‘one of the greatest creative minds and innovators in our industry. Someone that I’ve admired for many years.’

The massive reveal put all stops to the rumors of a Kojima – Microsoft collab as the CEO confirmed it himself. Apart from that, a double confirmation came in when Hideo Kojima Production’s Twitter handle changed its display, mentioning the collab. 

Now, along with our Japanese fans, we are eager to see what the duo is planning for us.

Xbox one project relationship with TeamNinja

For those uninitiated, Microsoft has previously worked with TeamNinja only for the Dead or Alive games series. Later, the developer picked sides between the two giants as they ended up closely aligning with Sony.
