“It’s So Much Fun” – Deadpool Actor Ryan Reynolds Once Revealed Why He Had to Limit Playing Fortnite

The 2021-released sci-fi action comedy film Free Guy has to be among the best trials to blend the two worlds of movie and gaming. But the lead actor and producer Ryan Reynolds had to limit playing games like Fortnite for the shooting of this movie.

In an interview with BBC Click, the Canadian actor talked about many things related to Free Guy. Reynolds shared how they took inspiration from fan-favorite games like Grand Theft Auto and Fortnite. Eventually, it led to the interviewer questioning if he played the games.

Ryan Reynolds had to limit his gaming while shooting Free Guy

Ryan Reynolds didn’t reject the question and claimed he had to play some games. The 46-year-old actor stated that he was not just acting in the movie but also helped with the writing part. And he needed “to be literate enough in the gaming world.” So he had to play games like Fortnite.

But he also claimed while he got to know about gaming, he also “recognize the slippery slope” of this. It is a known fact that gaming is a very addictive hobby, and many have fallen victim to it. So, Reynolds also wanted to control that urge and not fall victim to gaming addiction.

The Canadian actor added, “It’s so much fun that I could easily see myself blowing off, walking the kids to school and jumping into some Fortnite instead. I had to walk that fine line between research and being a parent and husband.”

Why was Free Guy better than most video game-adapted movies?

Many believe Free Guy is among the best trials to unite the gaming and movie world. But what is the possible reason behind it? So, the film’s director, Shawn Levy, has the perfect answer for it. The Canadian filmmaker was once working on the adaptation of Uncharted.

But the director later stepped away from making the movie based on the PlayStation exclusive. He explained his reasons, “It’s possible to be very creative when you’re doing a video game adaptation, but you’re never completely unshackled.”
