Latest October Update Reveals Sony’s Big PlayStation Plans With the Next Virtual Reality Device

Following the success of the first PlayStation VR headset, Sony is all set to reveal its second iteration in a grand manner. A new report has revealed that the upcoming device under this category will be arriving on a mass scale next year.

It looks like Sony is not going to face any supply chain issue whatsoever, in the case of the PlayStation VR2. The new headset is expected to be available in a massive quantity of nearly two million by 2023!

PlayStation VR2 to be mass produced with 2 million units expected by March 2023, along with more PS5s

According to a report by Bloomberg, Sony plans to make nearly two million PSVR2 headsets by March, next year. It was previously rumored that the company would mass produce the device later this year, and it looks like the rumors were true indeed. Bloomberg revealed that the large-scale production began in September itself for the PlayStation VR2.

It also implies that there are no supply chain issues for Sony as the production is going in full flow. In terms of comparison, it took about eight months for the PSVR1 to ship a million units. And it took 14 months to ship two million units, the same figure expected for its successor by March itself. Well, this news also brings a positive update for those waiting to buy the PS5. Since there’s no problem regarding the supply chain, as it seems from the latest report, the current generation of the console might be available in mass quantity as well. Players will be able to purchase the PS5 in the coming months as Sony starts increasing production.

Coming back to the PSVR2, then it will be interesting to see the actual performance of the device upon its launch. It’s already been revealed that it will offer a better, more immersive experience compared to the first generation.
