Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has introduced Operator takedowns in the game. Takedowns are dramatic actions, unique to every Operator in Modern Warfare. Basically, a takedown involves stealthily killing the enemy by taking them off-guard. Sometimes it is also referred to as a ‘finishing move’.

Players can also purchase various takedowns and add them to the Operators they own. Activision sometimes includes them in the seasonal Battle Pass or in Store, inside bundles. However, every takedown has one thing in common, and that is adding insult to injury.

Since it is a stealth kill, players risk death if enemies detect the player beforehand for getting too close. If a player is too close to an enemy, like right up against their body, the option to perform a takedown appears.

Players can perform finishing moves on the enemy by sneaking up behind them and holding down the melee button. Takedowns are canceled if someone kills the attacker while the takedown is taking place.

Takedowns paralyze the victim from all controls. There is a 5-second cinematic sequence that takes place when it is executed. There are various types of takedowns and most of them involve stabbing, mauling or slashing the neck. Takedowns also confirm an excellent killcam and therefore performing it during the last kill in multiplayer ensures the entire lobby is watching you do it.

Action artists recreate Call of Duty takedowns

YouTube channel Gamology recently released a video where real life action artists tried out the finishing moves. Action artist, actor and filmmaker Noah Fleder collaborated with action actress and seven-time World Champion in sport karate, Gemma Nguyen, to bring to life some Call of Duty takedowns.

Since fighting is a day job for both of them, Noah and Gemma could reproduce most of the moves with considerable ease. They performed the infamous Belly Flop, where the victim is tripped from the legs and beaten to death with a metal baton.

Both of them even explained the intricacies of each action that lead to a successful takedown. They further answered whether these actions are practical in actual life. Well, the experts think all of them are very practical but require high skill and training to execute. While some might look quite simple to perform, they involve small and swift movements that demand years of training to perfect.

At the end of the day, any Call of Duty fan will appreciate the realism that the franchise brings with its titles. One of the biggest selling factors of this franchise is its attention to real-life details. Gemma and Noah have proved just that with this exclusive video by Gamology. Watch the video below.
