Microsoft shocked the entire community when it announced that it is planning to buy Activision Blizzard. This made several PlayStation users wonder if they won’t be able to play famous Call of Duty titles on their console. Interestingly, Phil Spencer recently tweeted Microsoft’s decision of whether Call of Duty will stay with PlayStation.

Activision has already announced that it’s planning to sell Call of Duty and Diablo publisher for an estimated $69 billion in an all-cash deal. According to Business insider blogs, “Among the many reasons for the purchase, Microsoft wants to bring Activision’s game library into its Netflix-like video game subscription service, Xbox Game Pass.”

Call of Duty has been a very iconic franchise for PlayStation and it has generated a lot of profit for Sony. Naturally, Sony wouldn’t have let such a successful title slip away from its hands. Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, made PlayStation users happy by announcing that Call of Duty won’t leave the console.
Had good calls this week with leaders at Sony. I confirmed our intent to honor all existing agreements upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry, and we value our relationship.

After hearing such great news, many players thought that Xbox and PlayStation might have agreed on a deal. Surprisingly, even though Call of Duty is staying with Sony, rumors of Spiderman coming to Xbox are false. Moreover, many users are happy that with Spencer’s decision, the console war has finally ended.

Although Microsoft could have profited a lot by keeping Call of Duty to itself, Spencer solved the dispute between the two factions of fans. He also said, “Sony is an important part of our industry, and we value our relationship.”
