PlayStation Uses God of War To Boost Its Heated Rivalry With Xbox

Nvidia’s GeForce Now is a great cloud-based service through which players can enjoy the latest blockbusters on the-go on different devices. However, it can’t be said for all the games though. Especially when it comes to PlayStation IPs from Sony. Recently, it was discovered that Sony has blocked one of its recently launched PS exclusives for PC, God of War, on the Xbox console.
Well, it’s not the first time such a situation has emerged. Something similar happened with Death Stranding as well in 2021. That title was also blocked from running on the GeForce Now for anyone using the Xbox.

Moreover, God of War’s removal just shows that Sony doesn’t like it when its games are played on rival consoles.
God of War blocked for Xbox on Nvidia GeForce Now
As is already known, God of War made its way as a PC port earlier this year in January. Initially, it arrived on the digital storefront Steam where it amassed a large number of concurrent players as well.
Nvidia’s GeForce Now service also added it to its growing library of exciting titles. While it can be accessed on various platforms, there was something wrong with the Xbox in particular. A Reddit user found out that the game is simply blocked for Microsoft’s device.

As you can see in the post above, God of War is not even showing in the search results. This was seen happening on the Xbox while using the GeForce on the Microsoft Edge browser.

Last year, too, a similar problem was spotted by The Verge’s Senior Editor Tom Warren. In a tweet, he mentioned that he could not find Hideo Kojima’s former PlayStation exclusive Death Stranding on Nvidia’s subscription service on the Xbox.

With God of War also getting blocked, it now makes sense why Sony is doing this. Simply put, the company doesn’t want its top-tier PS titles running on the Xbox, even through a cloud gaming portal.
Meanwhile, God of War’s PC port is now available via Steam. Interested players can enjoy it from there.
