The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the upcoming latest installment in Nintendo’s long-running franchise. Some of the fans of the series have been playing these games ever since they were little kids. Since that moment, they have known that Ganon is the ultimate antagonist of these games for the most part. Through the journey, there were times he was replaced, but he is to Link what Bowser is to Mario—his arch-nemesis.

It bodes well with the players that he is once again the main villain in Link’s latest adventure, Tears of the Kingdom. Moreover, it appears he is way more destructive this time around.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was set in the wilderness that was once Hyrule. Every character in that game was full of stories; they told Link how things were, and there were even remnants of memories to collect.

There was no shortage of environmental storytelling in the game, and each story was that of destruction. Ganon pushed hard to take over Hyrule, and the heroes pushed back. The result of this struggle was the destruction caused and the collateral damage.

In the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom, it’s quite evident that Ganon has gone a step further. He has caused way more destruction this time around and has set up a more dangerous gang of minions on Hyrule. Moreover, he can be heard asking them to destroy Hyrule and everyone who stands for it. So the quest is, would he destroy Hyrule this time around? Chances are, he already has.

There are speculations that this game’s story has some time-travel elements in it, and there are chances that players might have to go back in time to restore Hyrule to its glorious self. Ganon destroying Hyrule is not very shocking; as these elements are to be expected. Similarly, we remember how the moon destroyed the world of Termina a number of times. Players just traveled back in time and tried to save that world once again. Hyrule never ends.

Although there is no confirmation of such a story element as of yet, this is just a mere speculation, and it would only be clear once the game launches in May.
