Twitch is planning to introduce new changes to the platform

Twitch’s new changes highlight paying their top talents and would become a major boost towards their profit. However, these new changes might also make it difficult for some other streamers, alienating them in the course of time.

As reported by Bloomberg, the proposed changes will provide incentives for streamers to show more advertisements. According to certain anonymous entities, since the negotiations are private, the idea would also cut the share of membership payments paid to the site’s top achievers.

According to the sources, certain modifications to Twitch’s revenue structure might be introduced as soon as this summer. Twitch staff is contemplating reducing the income split of channel subscriptions offered to the top tier of broadcasters in its so-called partnerships program from 70% to 50%. Two of the participants said that another approach would be to create many levels and specify criteria on how to qualify for each one. In exchange, Twitch may offer to remove exclusivity limitations from partners, allowing them to stream on Google’s YouTube or Facebook.

While we are at it, Twitch has also been experimenting with different ad formats. It announced this year that producers who stream at least 40 hours per month might earn $100 for broadcasting two minutes of commercials every hour. The compensation rises as the number of ad minutes increases. A new plan under consideration would establish a revenue-sharing system, providing a more profitable model for streamers.
