Eugenie Bouchard Announces Sad News Amid Fed Cup 2020

Canadian star Eugenie Bouchard can’t seem to get her career back on track. After struggling with injuries for the better half of 2019, the injury bug has bit her again.

Bouchard has withdrawn from her much anticipated Fed Cup rubber against Belinda Bencic. Canada was facing Switzerland in the said rubber.

Bouchard was replaced by Gabriela Dabrowski. According to reports, Eugenie pulled out of the clash owing to a wrist injury.

This led to a double blow for team Canada as star player Bianca Andreescu is already out of the singles competition. Biana is currently rehabilitating from a knee injury.

Eugenie Bouchard Struggling From Bad Form

Bouchard had a horrible time in 2019. After crashing out of the top 100 in 2018, Bouchard started the year off positively.

She made it to the quarterfinals in Auckland. However, things started going southwards soon after as she crashed out of the second round at the Australian Open.

Things became so bad that the Canadian could not win a single match at Indian Wells, Miami, French Open, Eastbourne, Wimbledon, Rogers Cup, Vancouver and New York.

Bouchard went on a 13 match losing streak across events. In fact, she ended the 2019 season ranked 262.

However, 2020 started off well for the Canadian. She again made it the quarter-finals in Auckland. However, once again the slump in the form returned. She could not make it past the qualifiers of the Australian Open.

She looked at Fed Cup as the platform for her return. However, this injury again derails whatever momentum she would’ve thought of gaining.

Talking about Bianca Andreescu, the young sensation is making her return through doubles. Eventually, she will be making her return to the doubles too.

However, the Canadians remain grossly under-representated in the top tiers of the WTA division till then.
