McLaren driver Lando Norris was recently spotted rubbing shoulders with star Golfers Rory Mcllroy and Collin Morikawa at Yas Links, Abu Dhabi. In an Instagram story shared by the young Brit, he could be seen recording some top-class strokes from Morikawa and McIlroy. They arrived at Abu Dhabi earlier this week for the DP World Tour’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

The Briton’s love for golf is not hidden from anyone. Fans can often spot him on the golf course during his leisure time between race weekends. Norris posted an Instagram story a few days ago where he went side-by-side with Indian Cricket legend Yuvraj Singh, claiming the duo formed the “Team of the Year.” This time he took things to a different level, engaging in an event with professional Golfers.

Norris will soon be back behind the wheel of his 2022 McLaren car. However, he has a concern going this season.

A scenario of a possible race suspension is waiting for him.

McLaren are unhappy with the penalty points given to Lando Norris

The FIA gave Norris a 2-point penalty for an incident with Red Bull driver Sergio Perez. Norris has 5 penalty points to his name, which will be waived off at the end of the Azerbaijan GP in June.

As per the FIA rule, 12 penalty points clocked up by a driver on his FIA super-license during a 12-month period will mean a one-race suspension. Though Norris is not on the edge, team CEO Zak Brown is unhappy with the penalty points handed to Norris. Talking to Motorsport-Total, Brown gave his opinions on the issue.

“I can’t remember any incident where Lando drove dangerously,” said Brown as reported by Motorsport-total.com.

“We wrote to the FIA and Formula One with seven races to go and said Lando pushing Perez off the track without touching him is one race away from losing his license. I think the points should be about dangerous driving, not racing incidents.”

“So I’m more interested in getting things like this resolved because we were concerned about Lando,” he added while discussing the undeserved penalty.

If Norris clocks 7 more points before the Azerbaijan GP in Baku, he will have to face a one-race suspension. The team is surely wanting to avoid that scenario. With exactly a month to go for winter testing, the excitement is building up for the next season.
