Logan Sargeant will be finally happy to accomplish his goal of racing in F1. The American driver will start his debut F1 season with Williams in 2023. Back when Sargeant was still young and racing in karts, he may have seen a dream to one day race and battle with some of the top F1 drivers. In fact, after his Junior Karting World Championship triumph in 2015, Logan also revealed 3 of his F1 heroes.
Speaking at the FIA Prize Giving Gala of 2015, Sargeant spoke about his racing idols Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, ditching then-world champion Lewis Hamilton. He also looks up to Hamilton’s inspiration, Ayrton Senna as a role model. The American driver revealed what he likes about these F1 legends.
He said, “Just like the legacy that they [Senna, Schumacher, and Vettel] have built and how good they were.” Sargeant further added how he would like to replicate the impact that Schumacher and Vettel had made in F1.

But then the interviewer asked him whether he thinks he can match Seb or Michael’s tally of world titles. To this, Logan replied quite humbly. The 14-year-old said, “Well, we are far away from that [matching Seb or Michael’s titles] But hopefully, We’ll see. Yea of course. But it’s a long way away.”
Sargeant has just entered F1, and there is a little spotlight on him. But, the American has been flying under the radar, so no one may be expecting him to smash records in F1 right way.
Certainly, it is too soon to count his chickens. Thus, Logan will want to make some good progress in F1 before trying to scale the mountainous achievements of Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher.
How far can Logan Sargeant go in F1?
With a major spotlight on his former F3 rival Oscar Piastri, Logan Sargeant will want to focus properly on his rookie F1 season. He would surely love to be the surprise package of the 2023 season. But, in the long term, can the American survive and thrive at the pinnacle of motorsport?

Sargeant may be starting with Williams, but he is a talent worth watching for many teams. In the past, we have seen prodigies coming to F1 and getting a break in a big team. Kimi Raikkonen is a classic example of the same. The Finn did one season with Sauber in 2001 and got a drive with McLaren for the following season in 2002.
And given the chaos of the driver market, anything is possible. If Sargeant is performing well, teams will notice him. And just like that, the man from Florida could gain a big seat in an instant. Looking at so many instances in the past, Logan showing consistency and speed can lead to his promotion up the grid.
