Alpine F1 Driver Esteban Ocon Bluntly Puts Down “Legend” Fernando Alonso for His Cutting Media Remarks As Their Relationship Takes Another Hit: “Not Too Nice”

The situation in the Alpine garage isn’t arguably great, as Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon entered another spat. Even though Ocon denied any tension between him and Alonso, the duo is still to have a conversation. Despite having no conversation with his teammate, the Frenchman opened up to the media about the Spanish driver.
As Ocon has recently opened up on his teammate, he said, “I think it was not too nice what he [Fernando Alonso] said in the media.”

As per The Race, the Alpine driver shared, “I always have a lot of respect for him, he’s a legend, and I will keep my respect for him forever. Doesn’t matter what he said to you guys, I prefer when we speak together.”
Tension increased in the Alpine paddock as Alonso hit Ocon’s sidepod in Turn 4 of the Brazilian GP Sprint on Saturday and felt he didn’t need to talk to Ocon post-Sprint.
Team principal Otmar Szafnauer was furious, as he believes that both the drivers let “the team down.” Moreover, Szafnauer also believes that the Frenchman could’ve given his veteran teammate a little “more room” at the end of turn 4.
Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon’s feud at an all-time high?
Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon started the year off pretty well. With the two abled drivers, the team from believed that they can threaten the top teams with their performance this season. However, things didn’t quite work out, as Alpine saw an intra-team rivalry between Alonso and Ocon.

Things started getting sour as the duo battled each other in Jeddah. Not only the duo lost time against other drivers, but in the end, Alonso had to back off citing an engine issue. Having started from P5 and P7, only Ocon crossed the finish line in P6, as Alpine lost many valuable points.

The situation started getting worse as Alonso had to face multiple retirements due to reliability issues in his Alpine. Despite showcasing great pace, the Spanish driver remains behind his French teammate at the points table.
