Alpine F1 Outline Fernando Alonso’s “Invaluable” Asset to the Team

Fernando Alonso is making his highly anticipated comeback with Alpine F1 in 2021. The 2-time World Champion comes with immense experience and knowledge with his F1 racing, Dakar Rally, FIA Endurance Championship and 24 Hour Le Mans experience.
The Spaniard will add a lot to Alpine F1 on the grid. However, the team’s CEO, Laurent Rossi has clarified that Alonso brings a significant advantage to the fold that goes beyond the racing track.
“Fernando has almost 20 years of experience in Formula 1, he is invaluable for young drivers, he could give them advice on physical and mental training and how to get the most out of the car.

“He is also passionate about supporting the talent of young drivers. through the initiatives of his own team and he has taken the time to get to know the current academy drivers. I’m sure he will be an inspiration to the team,” he explained.

Alain Prost, the former racing champion, was nicknamed the ‘Professor’ due to his methodical approach to racing. The 4-time French champion has been critical at the Renault outfit over the recent years.

Laurent Rossi believes that Alonso will now take up that role. ” [Prost] was a benchmark for many, and even in recent times has been an important piece in Renault’s gear.
