McLaren had a poor start this season, from fighting for third place to struggling to even get to the midfield. The British constructor is having a hard time and is far away from getting back to their form. Even team principal Andreas Seidl believes they won’t be able to come up with a miracle to improve their poor form drastically.

The British constructor looked decent in the pre-season testing at Barcelona. However, the troubles began with the Woking base after the Bahrain testing. The season opener in Bahrain was a disaster, the MCL36 was very slow and the McLaren duo couldn’t even bag a single point there. Lando Norris eventually got the first point for the team at Jeddah. Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo had to retire from that race because of an issue with the car.

The Papaya team is working on their car to improve it for future races and hoping to return to the competition in the front. However, team principal Andreas Seidl doesn’t believe that all the issues with the 2022 challenger are going to improve in an instant and says it will take time. But he’s sure that his team will return to the fight at the front of the grid.

“I Would Have Taken Him Immediately” – Current McLaren F1 Boss Andreas Seidl Reveals He Wanted to Sign Kevin Magnussen

Seidl stated, “I’m not expecting a miracle. It’s not that easy to get to the level of our competitors. It will take time and we have to be patient.”

The McLaren boss hints at some MCL36 upgrades

The McLaren boss revealed that the already planned upgrades will still happen, but they won’t be a long-time solution. But the Woking-based team will also work on the aerodynamic concepts of the MCL36. The car was also having a lot of issues with its aerodynamics. Hence, the Papaya team might introduce a major aerodynamic upgrade soon. Seidl also hints that the development of the MCL36 won’t affect the work of the 2023 challenger.

Seidl is right about not worrying about the developments of the 2023 car. The 2022 season has just begun and there are a lot of races ahead. So, the British constructors have a lot of time in hand to improve their current car while parallelly working on their next season’s challenger.
